Re-Root Canal treatment- Once the primary root canal treatment fails, that particular tooth can be saved without any invasive surgery just by re-treating its root canal (Re-RCT) again to remove the infection. The symptoms of failed root canal can cause serious pain to the patient and call for an emergency endodontic visit.

Misconception related to re-root canal treatment:

  • Painful procedure- Some patients fear to undergo the treatment again as they had suffered pain after the previous root canal treatment. It is normal to have moderate pain after root canal treatment for some days and it subsides on its own.
  • RCT causes illness- Dental pain is considered to be the most severe pain compared to other systemic problems, causing pain. numerous of them fear getting sick after they had RCT done. But, it's always better to save natural teeth than to get them replaced by any other option. Slight tenderness on biting with RC treated teeth is there for 3 to 7 days and also the patient adapts to the new changes- surely he or she's relieved of severe pain with which they had reported to the clinic.
  • Preferring tooth removal over RCT-Patients in severe pain with root canal treated tooth prefer tooth removal as the final option to get immediate relief from pain. This is not true. Tooth removal is the surgical procedure which will surely have post removal pain and the patient looses the natural tooth which could have been saved.

Advanced tools used in re-root canal treatments:

  • Dental microscopes and loupes used in performing re-root canal treatment facilitate high resolution visibility making the operating field clear, and the work easy and precise.
  • Digital x-rays are taken with RVG digital sensor which records immediate HD images showing clear images of the root canal.
